• Enjoy a day fly fishing for Scotland's amazing brown trout. Within this offering you can choose between targeting sea run browns, loch dwelling browns (drifting, trolling or hiking in) or river browns.
Drifting in a boat fly fishing for trout is the most popular fishing style in Scotland, and for good reason! This fishing style which we call 'loch style' involves using wet flies, to tease trout to take.
You won't be able to experience the rich tradition of Scottish loch style fishing elsewhere (except perhaps in Ireland), and you'll discover why it's so popular in Scotland. This is our traditional way of fly fishing for trout.
Fly fishing the rivers for brown trout is an addictive and continually intriguing fishing style. The rivers of Scotland are never stocked with trout. The trout you catch are totally wild and exceptionally beautiful. Using tactics such as the upstream dry, cross stream spiders, close quarter nymphing and swinging streamers you can tempt t
• The streams of the upper San Juan are not at ALL like the San Juan in New Mexico. These unspoiled rivers and creeks start just miles above where we will be fishing. The 10,000-foot peaks that are still packed with snow in July feed these intimate rivers on their way to the Navajo Reservoir and then the Tail water section of the San Juan that everyone knows. Some of the many streams that we are permitted on through the San Juan National Forest are the West Fork and East Fork of the San Juan, Quartz Creek, Wolf Creek, Turkey Creek, The Upper Piedra, and the Rio Blanco. These streams are great for beginners and experienced anglers alike. As your PAGOSA SPRINGS FLY FISHING GUIDE we will access most of the fishing areas on foot or on a 4 wheeler. The fish average 8 – 15 inches and are eager for dry flies and dropper rigs. Small steams will often give the beginner fly fisherman many more opportunities to hook fish on the dry fly.
• The San Juan River lies in Northern New Mexico and is one of the most renowned
tail - waters in the country. This outstanding fishery was created by the construction
of Navajo Damn in 1962. The dam is 400 feet high and 3/4 of a mile long, the water released at the base of the dam is consistently around 41 - 42 degrees. Perfect trout habitat! The management of the New Mexico Fish and Game and the New Mexico State Park system has created and maintained this outstanding fishery. The first 3.75 miles of river below the damn has been given the designation of "QUALITY WATER". The Quality Waters offer some of the most consistent fishing conditions, with fish averaging between 16 - 18 inches! Fish this size would be considered a trophy on any other river. Recent studies have shown that the river is supporting 15,000 fish a mile, through the Quality Waters.

• The Bighorn is an excellent tailwater fishery with 1500 trout over 12 inches per mile. You can expect to catch many rainbows in the 16"-18" range, a couple browns up to 20" and if you're lucky you might catch a cutthroat or two. Of course we break the 24" mark on all species a few times during the season... you never know what you're gonna tie into!
Dry fly fishing is our favorite thing to do and most of the time the trout are willing to eat on the surface. But we're not afraid to get down and dirty with nymph rigs when the hatches don't cooperate.
We are a small guide service which gives us the opportunity to custom tailor your fishing trip whether you're a beginner, novice, or experienced angler. As a result of this we operate on about 70% return clientele and referrals. We live in Thermopolis and offer trips year-round.

• When time is of the essence or you just want to expose a beginner to the great sport of fly fishing our Half-day trips are a perfect solution.
We encourage anglers to enjoy as much fishing as possible, but sometimes lack of time gets the better of us. Our Half-day trips are a great solution. There is so much water in our backyard we can usually be fishing in just minutes. Take advantage of a 4 hour float or walk wade trip even if you just have a part of the day. This is great way to introduce beginner anglers to the sport as well as enjoy some quality time on the water.
