ABC Ranch is located in Canisteo, NY - the south central part of New York State. We raise Hereford cattle and own 2500 acres of land, which is all posted. In 1996 we started our own Quality Deer Management Program. We fill all our Doe Permits with mature does, and harvest only 8 points or better bucks.
We have two camps, which have all the conveniences of home. Propane heat, a bunk room which sleeps six, a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom with shower and Dish TV. Each camp has 400 acres which they have exclusive hunting rights to. The other 1500 acres is open for both camps to hunt.
We rent our camps from Friday-Friday. The camp will be ready to move into by 5 p.m and the following Friday, you must have your gear and things out of the camp by 11 a.m. This is necessary so we can get the camp ready for the next incoming group of hunters.
We're considered the southern zone of New York State, deer management unit 8T. Bow season opens October 1st and runs until gun season, which is the 3rd Saturday in November. There are 3 weeks of gun season, followed by muzzleloader. Shotgun season follows (hand guns permitted,) opening the 3rd week in November and runs for 3 weeks, followed by 8 days of muzzleloader season.
Steuben County is also known for some of the best turkey hunting in the state. The fall season coincides with Bow Season and as an added bonus we invite our Bow hunters to bring their shotguns and do some turkey hunting.
You can enjoy hunting, stalking, and seeing lots of game in prime Whitetail Country and still have all the comforts of home. We will take you around the land you'll be hunting, show you the boundaries, show you where to put your stands and make sure that you're familiar with the land.
ABC Ranch is an operational cattle farm located in the hills of Canisteo, NY and is owned by Dr. A. Bryon Collins. We have been raising Black Baldy and Herefords for 50 years. 6 miles of Finger Lakes trail hiking run through the property for guests to enjoy and there is also a functioning cidery with taproom and restaurant located on the property. When you are done with your hunt, enjoy a drink and dinner by the stone fireplace in our lodge-style taproom, called Cider Creek Hard Cider.
Chip Collins, pictured above, started running the hunting camps on ABC Ranch 21 years ago. On May 8, 2016, Chip passed away unexpectedly. We have decided to continue the tradition that he started, and that he shared with many of you, alive on the rLicense: NY 6189346
