I purchased this Summit Carbon II scope to compliment my RAZOR® HD 27-60X85 purchase.
I mainly use this package as a spotter for target shooting out to 1000 yards and for 3 gun competition where engagement distances can go out to 600 yards or more.
I also periodically use this setup to observe nature/animals during my vacation.
The reason I choose this tripod is mainly for portability and flexibility. I did not want to carry a longer/heavier tripod but did not want to carry a "stubby" tripod either.
This tripod is the best of both worlds as long as you're ok with it's limitations.
For example, fully extended.....the scope only reach my chest and I'm 5' 10", I have to bend over to look thru the scope (which I already knew prior to purchase). But if you set it on something taller like a rock or crate then you'll be able to stand upright and look thru the scope comfortably.
Also sitting on a bench.....you'll need to spread the legs completely out to get the scope low enough for you to look thru it while sitting down on the bench. But the legs will spread so wide it'll take up roughly 3 feet circumference of space on the table (again I knew that before buying the tripod).
But again, for doing double duty as a standing/sitting tripod......it does both (kinda).....and it's very light and easy to carry....which is exactly what I was looking for.
No complaints so far......and Vortex's no BS warranty is another driving factor to my purchase.
