When I first heard of saddle hunting I remember having a negative feeling about it. I was quite happy with my hang on, ladder, and climbing stands. After some time I began to hear more about it and finally my curiosity allowed me to actively research and learn more. I checked numerous reviews, watched videos, and realized saddle hunting had a place in my future.
I determined the Tethrd line was the way to go for me and I placed my order for a Phantom saddle package. Once it arrived I took time to watch helpful "Tethrdnation" videos and familiarized myself with the system.
After practicing several times in my backyard, going up a tree, setting the platform, and simulating hunting situations. I'm regretting not getting into saddle hunting sooner! It has added a whole new and fun way to enjoy hunting!
The Tethrd equipment is top notch quality! It didn't take long to have total trust in the system although I haven't yet been out in a hunting situation. I've found it's fun just to practice in my backyard!
I've set up targets all over my backyard and rehearse different hunting situations. This is invaluable, I believe, before you go afield for the first time. I also highly recommend you bring everything you would on an actual hunt up into the tree with you and experiment where to put it so it works for you. Rangefinders, binos, rattling horns, grunt tubes ect.
My favorite part of the system is you can customize it down to the smallest detail for your preferences. The saddle has more attachment points for gear than you'll ever need. The sys hauler with 2 side pouches holds your tether line with prusik and carabiner, your lineman rope, and also a recliner strap in the main pouch. In one side pouch I have my pull rope and in the other I have wind checker powder and an additional carabiner. This is just one way to set it up.
I know this is kinda long but I can't stress enough how fantastic this system is and you can make it your own. I have yet to find anything to dislike about the system.
